I call these sketches “Digital Pastels” because they look like pastels, and the process for creating them is very similar to using chalk pastels on paper. I find them very satisfying and helpful in developing my skills as an artist. I use them as templates for my oil and acrylic paintings, but I might also make prints if people want them.

The sketches are created on an iPad using Procreate, which can simulate the look of pastels on pastel paper. Watch the demonstration below for an example of my typical process.
